Youth Participation

Last week I went up to my sisters, hauled my tub of snowshoes, and fitted 6 kids and 2 adults for a snowshoe excursion. It wasn't exotic, we just tromped through the fields by her house, but the kids had a blast. I was disappointed at first that we wouldn't get too far from home but I was tired and didn't want to haul everyone up the canyon at the moment. To my surprise it mattered not all to the kids. They raced, they slid, they jumped, they helped each other, and when we got back the kids had made memories, we all had fresh air, we explored and my sister's kids got to experience snowshoeing for the first time in their lives.
